1956 Jonas Forbes is hired by the Foreign Office to protect Soviet visitors.
1958 He is hired by the Foreign Office to escort as Arab Prince to Britain..
1960 He is hired by MI5 to deal with enemy agents trying to inflitrate CND and the Labour Party
1963 He is hired by the Home Office to deal with people involved in the Profumo Scandal
1965 He is hired by private clients to prevent a plot to ignite a race war in Britain.
1969 He is hired to prevent an assassination in California during the US Presidential Primaries.

His methods are direct, often violent and usually disturbing to everyone else.

Each volume is a completely independent novel except for certain key characters.
